His work focuses on applying engineering and data analytic approaches to modern microbiology problems to advance food safety microbiology.

He earned his Ph.D., and M.S., in Food Science at Cornell University and both a B.S. in Biosystems and Agriculture Engineering and a B.A. in Philosophy from Michigan State University.

He also enjoys authentic food, board games, running, and travel.
