Cecil Barnett-Neefs

Cecil is a first-year’s PhD student from Belgium, he graduated from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom) with a Bachelor’s in Pharmacology in 2015, and a Master’s in Bioinformatics in 2016. He then joined the Ivanek Lab at Cornell University and graduated with a Master’s in Food Science and Technology in 2021. Cecil has spent time in data analytics and programming across several biological fields, with a focus in Agent-Based Models.

Currently, Cecil’s research projects include the development of a public produce sample sharing database and environmental risk factor analysis, and analysis of Salmonella screening data in poultry. He also helps keep the lab website running.

His interests include scuba diving, photography, tabletop RPGs, and all things sci-fi.
