Cecil Barnett-Neefs

Cecil Barnett-Neefs (he/him/his)

Cecil is a second-year PhD student from Belgium, he graduated from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom) with a Bachelor’s in Pharmacology in 2015, and a Master’s in Bioinformatics in 2016. He then joined the Ivanek Lab at Cornell University and graduated with a Master’s in Food Science and Technology in 2021. Cecil has spent time in data analytics and programming across several biological fields, with a focus in Agent-Based Models.

Currently, Cecil’s research projects includes quantitative microbial risk assessment of Salmonella in poultry incorporating multiple dose-response options, QMRA of leafy green supply chains, and statistical process control analysis of Salmonella screening data in poultry. He also helps keep the lab website running.

His interests include scuba diving, photography, tabletop RPGs, and all things sci-fi.
